Il Santino
About This Spot
Stepping into Il Santino, nestled along the charming Via Santo Spirito in Florence, feels like entering a quietly cherished corner where time slows just enough to savor simple pleasures. The buzz here is neither rushed nor muted—it hums comfortably with the gentle conversation of locals and the occasional smiles exchanged over poured glasses. It’s the kind of space that invites you to pause, lean into the warmth of the room, and settle in as if you’re visiting an old friend’s home.
The atmosphere is an intimate blend of cozy and lively: tucked inside, the space reveals more seating than you might expect at first glance, including a back room that offers a bit of respite from the street’s pulse. Warm light, soft chatter, and the scent of freshly baked bread and aged cheese mingle effortlessly. Outside, the vibrant street scene allows for a relaxed pace under the glow of Florence’s summer evenings, where the ebb and flow of passersby becomes part of the experience.
At Il Santino, every sip and bite echoes a deep appreciation for Tuscany’s rich culinary traditions. The wine selection reflects this thoughtfully, with each glass encouraging moments of discovery—whether you’re sharing a plate of carefully chosen cheeses and meats or tasting small surprises and extras that feel like gifts rather than extras. The kitchen’s offerings, from delicate ravioli filled with rich, slow-cooked textures to vibrant, rustic bread-based dishes, root you firmly in the region’s flavors without overwhelming, crafting an experience that’s about shared enjoyment rather than formal dining.
The genuine warmth of the people who gather here, both staff and patrons, adds an unmistakable layer of belonging. It is not unusual to find locals popping in with their dogs or visitors quickly drawn into friendly exchanges by those behind the counter. This is a place where moments linger just a bit longer—whether it’s a quick glass of wine after a long day or a leisurely exploration of Tuscan charcuterie—everything feels naturally inviting and quietly memorable.

Great little spot with wonderful wine and great salami, prosciutto and cheese, along with prepared food like eggplant parm. Nice atmosphere with a mix of tourists and locals wandering in with their dogs for a quick sandwich or glass of wine at the counter. More seating than immediately apparent thanks to a decent sized back room.

Most amazing place for a good vino. The staff is amazing and very social. We orderd a few rounds of wine and amazing cheese and meat platter. But with that the staff also is giving you a lot of extras to taste. And they really know about taste… A place i always go back to when in Florence. It’s a small place, so sometimes it’s packed. But don’t worry in summer you can sit in the street to get the Italian feeling ;) Also really worth the money, you pay not that much but get a full experience

A very cozy and stylish wine bar in Florence! You can sit both indoors and outdoors. There’s a great selection of wines and snacks, nice atmosphere and beautiful flowers! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

We stopped by this place on our way home because the atmosphere felt so inviting. It was buzzing with locals and the vibe was amazing! We were even treated to two complimentary small dishes. A wonderful, authentic moment in a little bar in Florence!

Everyone was so sweet and the energy in here is so great! Very busy so if you’d like to go come early because the spots get filled up fast. The small plates were also great

Only came for a glass of wine. Randomly stumbled upon it because the wine window place a few doors down was flooded with other tourists taking selfies. Staff were great and the wine selection was exceptional. They let you take your glass of wine outside and chill in the street without a deposit and it’s just a friendly place.

Incredible special local FUN lively all the adjectives. Good luck getting a seat at the bar. NOT GOOD FOR BIG GROUPS or if you are in a rush (it took an hr to get the check when it got bussin) but come if you want to experience aperitivo with people who actually live in Florence.

Fantastic place connected to the restaurant next door. However, you enjoy a very good wine list and amazing salami of the area in a super cool place, with rock music and an atmosphere that challenges you to sit for hours. The owners were fantastic, friendly and helpful. Real enjoyment of wine and delicacies. Well done guys, you're great. Greetings and kisses from Serres Greece, Christos and Zoe
